Accessing cPanel from a dynamic IP address

If you get logged out from cPanel and get an error ‘The IP has changed’, then it is possible that you have a dynamic IP address.

Of course, you may contact your Internet Service Provider and get a static IP address. Otherwise, follow the steps below to install cPanel proxy to your account.

1. Deleting existing default cpanel DNS entry/-ies
1.1. Login to your cPanel.
1.2. Find “Advanced Zone Editor tool” under “Domains” Section and open it.
1.3. In this window, you will see various DNS records. We are interested in cpanel.yourdomain.com DNS record. Locate and delete it.

2. Creating new subdomain for cPanel Proxy . 
2.1. Navigate back to your initial cPanel screen.
2.2. Find Subdomains tool under Domain Section and open it.
2.3. Under Create a Subdomain section, please create a subdomain named cpanel.
2.4. You should now see your newly created subdomain in the list at the bottom of the page. (Make sure the document root is “public_html/cpanel”
2.5. Do not forget to take a look at the Document Root of the subdomain you created. This is the location to where you will need to navigate in the next step.

3. Downloading, uploading and extracting cPanel Proxy
3.1. If you haven’t yet downloaded cPanel proxy, please do it here: Download cPanel Proxy
3.2. Now navigate to cPanel File Manager.
3.3. Please remember the Document Root of the subdomain you created in Step 2. You need to navigate to this location via File Manager.
3.4. Once inside the necessary directory, click Upload in the top navigation bar.
3.5. A new page will open. Here, you need to either Drag and Drop the cPanelProxy.zip archive to the upload field or click Select File and select the archive.
3.6. As soon as it is uploaded, you will see a full green loading bar with 100% value inside. You can now navigate back to the directory where you uploaded the file. You can do this by clicking Go Back to … on the same page.
3.7. The only thing left to do is to extract the files from the archive. You can do this easily with File Manager. Click the right mouse button on the cPanelProxy.zip archive and select Extract.
3.8. Confirm the extract once more in the pop-up window by clicking Extract File(s).

4. You can now access your cpanel using cpanel.yourdomain.com without experiencing the issues again.
